I am considering a job in law enforcement.

Is a career in law enforcement safe? How often do police officers get shot at? How often do police officers get murdered?

It's not safe really, no. I mean imagine something like this; Cops get called into an area for some crazy domestic violence case, and the guy is waving a shot-gun around. Not safe, and that stuff happens too often, thats just one of the thousands of things, high speed chases (very dangerous) too.

If you fear for your life, I'd say pick a more subtle job.

Ever watched cops? No it doesn't seem very safe to me. At least not in big cities. Now being the sheriff in a small town would be pretty bitchin, imo.

You could always do in medicine, don't neccesarily have to be a doctor, but if you do, theres lots of years of study involved, especially if you decide to become a specialist. You could be a radiographer, the people who take your x-rays, not as much study involved but you still get to work in a hospital ^^

It really does depend on where you live Toxage.
If you live in Canada, and the same city as I do, you'll be lucky to ever draw your gun. I heard all the cops were called in because a man's dog got unleashed down by the big oak tree last year. Total chaos.

Depends where you live, its really very, very rare to be in any kind of danger, and specialists are used for dangersous situations as well.

Most probably you won't be shooting at terrorists holding hostages, that's more for specialists. I guess the most dangerous thing you'd be doing is a high-speed car chase, and the occasional loony with a gun robbing a store. Both dangerous but not as high caliber as terrorists holding hostages.

Lol, Criminals always have guns if they want them. Law enforcement is a good career if you like dealing with the lowest shit of society every day.
